Day 01

Fayoum Oasis, Wadi El-Hitan and Wadi El Rayan

Meet your guide at your hotel in Cairo and set out for your visit to Fayoum. The drive from Cairo to Fayoum is about 95 km. Start the tour with a visit to Wadi El Rayan, a protected area since 1989. Continue to Wadi El-Hitan Reserve, located about 90 km from Fayoum. This site has been classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, where 40-million-year-old whale skeletons were found. Then move on to the Wadi El Rayan Waterfalls, a natural depression in the Western Desert, 42 meters below sea level. Wadi El Rayan consists of two lakes connected by the only waterfalls in Egypt, formed in 1970 by wastewater flow from farmland in Fayoum. Enjoy sandboarding in Fayoum, followed by lunch at a beautiful local restaurant in the desert. Return to your hotel in Cairo or Giza.
