    Summit Hvannadalshnúkur

We'll meet the day before the hike to make sure you know what the summit day will be like. Our guides will also explain how the glacier gear works. We also want to know about your mountain experience so we can set the right starting time. If you are a beginner, we start earlier so we can go at a comfortable pace, but if you are a strong hiker and used to mountaineering, we can start later in the morning. The main goal is to be on the summit around 13:00 (1 pm). The trip starts early in the morning, and our guides will meet you at Sandfell (Sand Hill), which is the beginning of the hike. The first part is a steep gravel hill that takes us from 20 metres up to 700 m. The good thing about this first hill is that you can refill your water bottle at a spring around 500 metres, so you don't need to carry a lot of water for the first 1-2 hours. This is also a nice place to grab a snack. We will continue on gravel, rocks, and snow up to 1100 m. This place is called Skerið, or
