Pickup from Amsterdam hotel or cruise ship Start your private tour with a convenient pickup at your hotel, cruise ship or other accommodation in Amsterdam. Your tour guide will meet you and inform you about the day ahead. In a private airconditioned vehicle, you will be brought to Zaanse Schans Visit Zaanse Schans windmills You will enjoy a 2,5 hour guided tour at Zaanse Schans where your tour guide will tell you everything about the sights, the windmills and the region. You will visit a wooden shoe workshop for a demonstration of clog making, a former cheese farm to learn more about cheese making and to taste some cheese and a working windmill. Visit a clog making demonstration At Zaanse Schans, the wooden shoe workshop will be visited. Your tour guide will tell you more about clogs and the importance of them and shows you a large variety of wooden shoes. You will visit a clog making demonstration and you will have some time to look around and to make some pictures. Visit a former cheese farm With your tour guide you will visit a former cheese farm where you will receive an explanation about how Dutch cheeses are made. In the cheese shop, you will have the chance to try about 30 different kinds of cheese. Visit of a working industrial windmill At the windmills, you will visit paint mill De Kat. Here you will experience the power of these incredible machines from the 18th century. You will learn how tis windmill is operated and, if you want, you can climb up the stairs to get to the platform for a brilliant view over the village, the other windmills, the river and the countryside. Visit of Zaandam After your visit of Zaanse Schans, your tour guide will drive you to Zaandam, the main city of this region. Here, you will enjoy lunch in oe of the restaurants and your tour guide will walk you through the city enter to tell you more about its history. Part of this visit is to see the iconic Inntel hotel, made out of stacked green wooden houses on top of each other and also known as the "Lego houses". Typical Dutch lunch at Zaandam You will enjoy a traditional Dutch lunch in one of the local restaurants in Zaandam. For example, you can try Dutch Poffertjes or pancakes. Visit Czar Peter House To study ship building, Russian tsar Peter the Great visited Zaandam in 1697. The small wooden house where he stayed at still exists and can be visited.
