Private Phnom Penh Modern History Tour to S-21 and Choeung Ek
Welcome to Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia. This is your private tour with a private English-speaking guide and private transportation with A/C. Our tour guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel lobby to welcome you and start the tour at your chosen time. Your guide will give you a brief introduction to the history. First, you will visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, known as S-21 Prison during the Khmer Rouge period from 1975 to 1979. It was originally a school before the Khmer Rouge turned it into a prison, where more than 17,000 victims were tortured during that time. You will see the buildings with many photos of victims, and you may also meet a survivor from S-21 Prison. Your tour guide will explain the history of the Khmer Rouge and S-21 Prison in detail. Second, you will go to the Killing Field after a 30-minute drive from S-21 Prison. Around 20,000 victims were killed there after being sent from the prisons. At the Killing Field, you will see evidence from the Khmer Rouge period such as mass graves, a memorial building with 8,000 skulls, killing tools, and a 15-minute video about the Khmer Rouge and the Killing Field. After visiting these two places, you will be driven back to your hotel. Your guide and driver will say goodbye. We wish you good luck and hope you can learn a lot about Cambodia from this tour.
