Know before you go: Pilanesberg National Park - South Africa's fourth largest game park - is located in a volcanic crater within the Bojanala Region of the North West Province. This extinct volcano has developed into an internationally renowned tourist attraction with a breathtaking and fascinating landscape that inspires invigoration and awe. The park covers an area of 55,000 hectares, and more than 7,000 animals live here in a free and unhindered environment. Pilanesberg is home to the Big Five (elephant, rhino, leopard, buffalo and lion), and you are likely to tick off most on your game-sighting list. Other animals you may encounter include zebra, giraffe, cheetah, hyena, hippo, crocodile, jackal, wild cat, various antelope, and more than 300 bird species. Pilanesberg also offers over 200 km of roads for guided or self-drive game viewing.

Pilanesberg Safari Adventure from Johannesburg
Meet your tour guide, who will pick you up from your hotel in Johannesburg between 06:00 - 06:30, and then travel with you to the Pilanesberg Nature Reserve. On arrival at the reserve, set out on an exciting morning open 4x4 safari drive in search of the animals that inhabit the national park. Your knowledgeable guide will share in-depth information about the animals you view and will do their utmost to find members of the Big Five. Enjoy lunch at one of the many rest camps in the national park before departing on an afternoon closed-vehicle safari drive or a visit to Sun City. Depart the national park between 15:30 - 16:00.
