Denderah Temple and Abydos Excursion from Luxor

You will be picked up from your hotel in Luxor to begin the tour with a drive south past picturesque villages to the city of Qena. Visit the Denderah Temple, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt. The temple is dedicated to Hathor, Goddess and mother of the Pharaohs, representing maternity, love, and music. Visit the crypt and the roof, where you will find a copy of the famous Denderah Zodiac; the original was unceremoniously blasted out of the ceiling. You will also have time to walk around the temple grounds and surroundings. Have lunch in a good local restaurant. Continue to the Great Temple of Seti I in Abydos. Finalized by Ramses II after his father's death, this unique L-shaped limestone temple has beautiful decorations and the famous Kings List from Pharaoh Menes (approx. 3100 BC) to Ramses I (approx. 1293 BC), from which he intentionally left out Pharaohs he did not approve of, such as the invading Hyksos, Akhenaton, Tutankhamun, Ay, and Hatshepsut. You will also go to the mysterious Osireion, a submerged structure behind the temple. Finally, return to your Luxor accommodation to end the tour.
