Private Excursion to the Temples of Abu Simbel
Your tour representative will pick you up from your hotel in Aswan in a private air-conditioned vehicle. The drive from Aswan to Abu Simbel takes about 3 hours and 30 minutes each way. You will enjoy the Abu Simbel area and its main attractions: the Great Sun Temple of Ramses II and the Temple of Queen Nefertari. Both temples were discovered in 1813 and were almost completely covered with sand. In 1960, they were relocated with the help of the Egyptian government and UNESCO to protect them from the rising waters of the Nile. Ramses II built the temple largely to honour himself, and inside there is a mural depicting his famous victory at the Battle of Kadesh, where his army defeated its enemies. To the north of Ramses' temple stands the Nefertari Temple, built by Ramses II for his favourite wife, Queen Nefertari, among his 200 wives and concubines. After finishing the visit, you will be escorted back to your hotel in Aswan in your private air-conditioned vehicle. Trip ends.
