Explore UNESCO Heritage Sites of Kathmandu and Patan
Meet your guide at your hotel and drive to the first destination. Reach Patan Durbar Square, positioned in the heart of Patan city. The square and its atmosphere provide fine examples of antique Newari architecture. Explore the palace, which has three main courtyards, with the central and oldest being Mul Chowk. To the west of the complex are a dozen free-standing temples of different sizes and styles. Tour Krishna Mandir, Bhimsen Mandir, the Temple of Hiranya Varna Mahavihar, and Sundari Chowk. Make your way to Swayambhunath Stupa, a magnificent Buddhist stupa around 2,000 years old. Tourists often describe it as the Monkey Temple. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Other temples, along with Tibetan monasteries, encircle the core stupa of Lord Buddha. From here, you can view the entire Kathmandu Valley. Visit the Pashupatinath Hindu temple, set on the banks of the Bagmati River in Deopatan, a village 3 km northwest of Kathmandu. This holy place is a magnet for thousands of pilgrims each year and has become well known far beyond the Kathmandu Valley. The temple is banned to non-Hindus, but they can enjoy an excellent view of the temple from the opposite bank of the river. Head to Boudhanath, the center of Tibetan culture in Nepal. The 36-meter-high stupa of Boudhanath is one of the largest stupas in South Asia. The stupa is said to entomb the remains of a Kasyap sage, honored by both Buddhists and Hindus. Smaller stupas are situated at its base. That will conclude your tour.
