Walk Through Shuhe and Baisha Ancient Towns
Begin the walk from Sifang Street and pass by souvenir shops. It is one of the oldest bazaars in Lijiang and is full of daily hustle and bustle. Not far from here, see Qinglong Bridge, considered the best of the ancient bridges in Lijiang. Qinglong Bridge has played an important role in the economic and cultural development of Lijiang throughout history. Today, it has become the most popular wedding photo spot for young couples and photo studios. Then, head to a Buddhist temple near the water source. This ancient town has magnificent landscapes, but it also offers many enthralling shops to explore, such as Yunnan tofu shops, flower cake shops, tea shops, silver and leather shops, music cafes, and restaurants. After the Shuhe tour, continue from the centre of the village, where you can see a beautiful arch gate bearing the name of the village, "Baisha," which means "village of white sands." On a clear day, enjoy the spectacular view of Jade Dragon Mountain from here. Then, explore a few traditional handicraft workshops, including copperware making and Naxi silk embroidery, as well as some Dongba pictographs, the writing system of the Naxi people, also known as the last living pictograph in the world. Visit a local food shop to try Lijiang's most famous snack, bean jelly. You may occasionally listen to the famous Naxi orchestra, presented by a group of Naxi seniors in Baisha village. They are amateur musicians, and you can also hear some of the stories behind their music. Finally, stroll through the streets of Baisha and learn about the unique culture and real life of the Naxi people. Tour ends.
