1Day 01
Private Cartagena City Tour and Historic Landmarks
Start the day by meeting your guide at the hotel. Visit the Popa Monastery, the highest point in the city, for the best 360º panoramic view of Cartagena. Learn about local religious traditions and customs, and see Shakira's foundation for an overview of the city. Next, go to the San Felipe Fortress for a 15-minute photo stop. Learn about the history of this spectacular military fort and the Battle of Jenkins' Ear. Then, see the dungeons that served as prisons and barracks for Spanish troops. Afterwards, visit the Emerald Museum to learn about emerald mining in Colombia and enjoy the panoramic view of Bocagrande Harbour. Finish in the old town, walking and learning about the city. Visit plazas and parks, learn about the Spanish in the 16th century, their caste system, door knockers that denoted homeowners' status, and more.

Visit the National Aviary of Colombia
The National Aviary of Colombia has 138 bird species and about 1,800 specimens. Located 14.5 km between Cartagena and Barú, it is the largest aviary in America. Its attractions promote the care of nature and the importance of environmental sustainability, and include the Harpy Eagle, the Caribbean Toucan, Pink Flamingos, and the Crowned Crane, among others. It also has three systemic eco-environments - rainforest, coast, and desert - that support its wide variety of permanent exhibits. On this visit, we will be able to explore and learn about this wonderful place, visit all four different environments, and see a bird show.
