Siena Walking Tour with Valdimontone Museum and Piazza del Campo
Enter the Museum of the Contrada of Valdimontone and admire all the "Palio" they have won over the centuries. Palio is the name of the prize won in the horse race, and this gives the race the same name. Since 1970, the Palio has been painted by famous national and international artists, such as Renato Guttuso, Jim Dine, Joe Tilson, Fernando Botero, Igor Mitoraj, and others. Inside the museum, you can find a ceramics collection, sculptures, religious furnishings, costumes, drums, flags used for the historical parade, and many other interesting objects. Visit the Basilica of San Domenico, also known as Basilica Cateriniana, a basilica church in Siena. Stroll through Piazza del Campo, regarded as one of Europe's greatest medieval squares.
